PIGGY PIGGY!

Ok, I know some may think I am pathetic, but I just can not help it! Today I did pig tails on Brooklyne for the first time and they are histarical and down right ADORABLE! I just could not help but take some pics of her as she was climbing the stairs so everyone could see my cute little girl!

we must be out of blankets.

I went to check on Tanner durning his nap and this is what I found:

He took his pillowcase off of his pillow, stuffed it full of stuffed animals, and tried to stuff himself inside as well!

I sure love my silly little boy!

Pickles anyone?

Last night at dinner we started telling jokes. Trent started it, but due to my horrible memory, I can not remember his joke, but it was hilarious. Nonetheless, it only took a few minutes for us to start resorting to Knock Knock jokes (I know, we are pathetic). Well, a few years ago, around the time we moved to Mississippi, my boys loved talking about PICKLES. They found them to be rather amuzing. They would often tell Knock Knock jokes about pickles, and there favorite one went like this: "knock-knock" "who's there?" "pickle." "pickle who?" "pickle wet cuccumber for you!" At this point they were usually busting up laughing they could barely see straight. What was even more amuzing about this joke, what that neither boy even LIKED pickles! Well, being the clever mom that I am, I actually remembered this knock knock joke, so I decided to refresh their memory - - - - and this is what I got:

Adult sized lesson!

Trent came home from school Thursday and had been working on his homwork for a while. He came out of the room with tears in his eyes and said he had something he needed to tell me. He explained to me that he did not want to get in trouble, but the teacher had told the class that if you were talking you needed to move your clip (for those who are not aware, Green means a good day, Yellow - made a few bad choices, Orange - not so cool dude, Red - bad, Blue - Really really bad day). Trent choose to NOT move his clip and by doing so was dishonest. Well, this was weighing heavy on his mind, and since we have been having issues with the TRUTH (hiding and lieing from Trent) this has been something we have taught and discussed more so than usual in our home. Anyway, back to the story. Trent told me that he was talking but all the kids were talking, and some kids moved their clips, but he did not, and some other kids did not. But that he did not want to get in trouble from the teacher and he did not want to get in trouble at home and not be able to go to his friends house. I told Trent that I was proud of him for coming and telling me the truth, and that I know it is a difficult thing to choose to do sometimes. (thank you Jim Faye for this lovely concept.) Trent kept going on and on and on while in tears, about how he did not want to get in trouble. I told him that he should pray about the right thing to do. I talked to him about telling his teacher the next day, to which he totally freaked out at. I told him that he made a poor choice, but if he is honest with the teacher, then he is correcting that bad choice. I expressed to him several times that he should pray and ask Heavenly Father for help in making the right choice. Trent and I talked for a good 20 minutes and finally I calmed him down enough and was able to send him back in to do his homework.

The next morning, (today) when I came out to the kitchen to make breakfast, Trenton was sitting up at the bar and was writing a note to his teacher. It read something like this: I was talking in class when you told everyone to move their clips, and I did not move it. I am sorry and I will try harder to be quiet." He wanted to write a note because he was afraid that he would forget what to say. While we were driving to school Trent told me he was really nervous to go to class. I told him to take a moment and say a prayer and ask Heavenly Father for help and comfort. When he was done praying, I asked him if he wanted me to walk him to his classroom today. I think that ment a lot to him because he felt support when he was so nervous. I got to his class, and I was chatting with his teacher (about coming back later that day to read the book she had requested for me to read to the class) and Trent handed her the note and just stood there very scared and concerned. His teacher thanked him for being honest and gave him a small hug. He then looked at me and smiled, and I winked back.

Can I just say how proud I am of my young man. I know he was really scared to tell the truth and was really concerned that he would not get to play after school for a week (I am not sure where he got that from). When he got home from school he showed me his paper that says he got GREEN all week, the teacher choose NOT to move Trent's clip to Yellow because he was honest. And because he did not get on YELLOW, he was able to play with his friends after school today.

Do you see what I see?

Ok, I want to prove to everyone that Trent is NOT perfect, he is not 100% angel, and that he DOES indeed have some attitude!

Sorry guys . . .

I am sorry I had to put my blog on private for a few days. Long story short, I did not want someone to use my personal information for their negative use. I think I am in the clear now, so I am opening my blog back up. If for some reason I feel like I need to go private again, I will most likely not give any warning, so please know that I welcome friendly readers and you are always more than welcome to email me for an invite if it comes to that.

Thank you everyone for your support.

I don't remember ordering lobster today???

Really this post is about Saturday, but I am going to start with Friday evening.

Trent had a baseball game Friday night. About 5 minutes into the game it started to rain, no thunder or lightning though. The first two innings our team was a complete mess, they kept dropping the ball and overthrowing it, allowing the other team to have a score of 9 -0 in the bottom of the second inning. By now, it had really started to rain hard, so Donald, myself, Tanner, Kolby, and Brooklne were huddled in a mass under the unbrellas. Then something happened, our boys started to really play ball and they were doing a fantastic job. We played 6 innings, and it was the bottom of the 6th we were up to bat with the bases loaded. The score board was 13-12, (we had 12). We had 2 outs at this time but we very hopeful. Unfortunately, our team struck out and we lost the game. After this, we decided to go out to dinner because I had not prepared anything for when we got home. Finally, we got home around 9:30 p.m. and we got the kids to bed.

Well, then our alarm went off and we had to drag our exhausted bodies out of bed. I made breakfast and packed lunches and headed out to the ball field for our first game of the day (starting at 9 a.m. and team practice prior to that). Fortunately for us, the other team only had 7 players, so they had to forfiet the game (we still played, and let them use some of our team). Our next game was at 11 a.m. so we ran home so we could let Brooklyne take a quick nap. Our second game of the day we lost by 2 runs, but then we played that team again right after, and we won. This put us in the playoffs. We ran home so that Tanner and Brooklyne could take naps because the next game was at 4:30 p.m. Lucky for us, we were able to get one of the Young Women to come and babysit our 2 little sleepers and Donald, Kolby, Trent, and myself headed back to the ball fields. Our team SLAUGHTERED the other team, it was 18 -3. (By the way, this was the team that beat us Friday night in the rain.) So this means that we are in the Finals! This last game was extremely intense and such a nail biter. It was absolutely insane! The game was neck and neck the entire time, putting us into an extra inning. Our team was so worn out that our top players were nearly falling over as they would cross home plate. In the extra inning, our team fell apart and started making stupid mistakes. This allowed the other team to make 5 runs. When we were up to bat, we only made 3 runs, so we lost the championship game by 2 runs. Both teams got trophies and will have their pictures in the city newspaper.

You would think that with the night we had the evening before, and the full day outside, that we would head home and call it a night. NOPE, we must be glutten for punishment because we quickly grabs some pizza's and then headed to the RODEO. The kids had a great time. I am really grateful that we took the babysitter with us because between all three boys needing to go to the bathroom at different times, Brooklyne being a wiggle worm and Tanner being his usual self, we would have left the rodeo after about 30 minutes. Finally that night we got home around 10:30 p.m. and nearly crawled into bed and passed out for the night.

(Donald is NOT the Rodeo type, he is city, and I am country. I love that kind of stuff.)

Really we had a great time all day long. The weather was perfect, the kids were pretty good, Trent was doing a good job with his team, and his team was winning. Sadly, I forgot to bring sunscreen for the day! By the 4th game my arms were so red and killing me. I also have a spot on my nose that got burnt, but nowhere else. Donald, of course, did not get burnt at all, he just got darker (darn blessed olive skin tone). The kids, luckily did not get burnt much at all. Tanner and Kolby were both wearing hats and jeans, and Brooklyne wore long sleeves and pants becuase it was cool in the morning. So really, I was the only LOBSTER in the group.

Ok,,, here are some pictures I took of Brooklyne at the games Saturday. She was a total ham and was having a great time.

RUB A DUB DUB

When Donald was out of town this past week, I ended up bathing the kids all together. Normally they take showers, and it will be two kids at a time and Donald is in charge.

There really was not much room left to spare, but the kids had a great time. Brooklyne could care less who or what was in her way, she was all over the tub having a great time. Trent was very
concerned that I was taking pictures of them in the tub. He kept begging me NOT to put them up on the blog. I assured him that nothing was showing that people can not already see with him in a bathing suit, yet he still insisted on previewing the pictures before I posted them.

why do mommies have breasts?

The other night when we were getting ready for scriptures and prayer, Kolby and I had an interesting conversation.

Kolby: "mommy, what are these?" (as he pats my chest)
Mom: "Nothing to worry about Kolby, lets get ready to sing."
Kolby: "what are they?"
Mom: "They are breasts, honey, now lets sing the song."
Kolby: "I know what mommy's have breasts."
Mom: "why?"
Kolby: "so when you fall down you have a cushion to keep you from getting hurt."
Mom: "ahhhh, I see, you are a very smart boy. Can we sing now?"
Kolby: "I love you mom." (he gives me a hug and starts singing.

The funniest thing about that conversation was that THEY ARE PADDING!!!!!

Eeyore - Tigger? Eayore - Tigger?

Are you an "Eeyore" or are you a "Tigger"?

In trying to explain the the kids the importants of a good attitude, Donald has resorted to using classic Disney characters. My mind goes num just thinking about how much complaining and whining the kids do, despite my constant and attentive effort to help them be happy and grow, and have great experiences. Oh how I would absolutely love if there were days where someone cooked me breakfast of eggs, toast, and fresh fruit. Did my laundry, washed my dishes, did all the shopping for me, got me cool toys and gagets to play with. Oh I would love if someone ELSE paid their hard earned money so that I can do things that I want to do. I would love to be able to take a nap for a couple hours every afternoon, to be taken to fun play structures and given candy almost daily. Gosh, I know I can only IMAGINE that kind of a life; but my kids - - - instead of being filled with gratatude, they complain!!!! "Mom, I didn't get enough strawberries!" "mom, I am hungry." "mom, why can't we have another movie night?" "mom, I don't want to take a nap." "mom, I want more candy, 2 was not enough." "mom, why was his cookie bigger than mine?" The complaining goes on and on and on.

A couple weeks ago, Donald sat the kids down when he was getting to the end of his rope. He asked them if they wanted to be like EEYORE, or like TIGGER! Donald talked about each character and personality. Eeyore is grumpy, complains all the time. He walks around sad and lonely. The other characters like him well enough, and take much pity on him, but he definately is not one that bring the mood UP. Then there is Tigger. Tigger is very lively to say the least. He is possitive and a creative thinker. He is almost always happy and wants to be friends with everyone. He is a helper and a doer and always seems to be around when you need him. So, now when Don hears the kids complain and whine, he asked them "are you a tigger or an eeyore?"

ETA: well, in discussing this entry with Donald, I discovered that he had actually gotten the "Tigger Eeyore" annalogy from "The Last Lecture".

can anyone find my voice?

I have had a funky little sore throat for several days. I felt my voice being strained when I was chatting on the phone with my girlfriend this afternoon. Then we went to Trent's last soccer game. The boys played so well together and really worked as a team. It was so fun to see how well they have excelled thru the season and even more exciting that they won to nights game. Trent scored 2 goals and did a FANTASTIC job at ball control, dribbling, and passing the ball. I was truly proud of my young man. Well, with a game like to nights, there was no way I could sit still let alone not cheer the team on! Like normal, I of course had to be one of the loudest moms cheering on the sidelines, but everyone was cheering and really enjoying the game because the boys just had a GREAT night.

After the game, we rushed home to shower the kids and get them to bed. Around this time I discovered that it has been increasingly difficult for my voice to be heard. I tried singing with the kids before prayer and I could not even get the words out unless I whispered. Now 2 hours later, I bonifiedly have NO VOICE! So, the big question now,,, is what in the world is my family going to do with mommies voice going a-wall? (my sisters can of course keep in their normal fashion of NOT commenting, lol.) Donald says even my cough sounds pittiful. I wonder if he thinks I can handle my mommy duties tomorrow?
