Peanut Butter Fred Peenickle

Today in sharing time the kids had a fun lesson.  We were talking about what they learned at church today, ya know, the normal stuff, lol.  Trent and Kolby were very informative about the sharing time lesson.  Because they seemed to really enjoy it, I asked them if they would like to teach Daddy, Tanner, Brooklyne and myself a small lesson after dinner.  They nearly beamed with delight and practically vanished so fast to go get started.  

After dinner, they had us sit at the kitchen table.  Trent had written a story and Kolby had picked out a boy (which I found and printd of course).  They gathered their other supplies, peanut butter, spoon, napkin and something to hold the boy up on.  Trent started reading his story.

This is his own writings:

Is this a picture a boy or a girl?  BOY.  This is Fred Peenical and he is a 7 year old boy.  He has made big mistakes and bad stuff.  Well his mom told Fred to take the longry(laundry) out of the grire(drier) and you's (use) your brouther's bascit(brother's basket) and take it to your brouther's room.  So he took HIS longry bascit to HIS room.  His mom asked him, "Where is your brouther's longry bascit?" "I asked my brouther to take it to HIS room.  I geuss my brouther took it to my room."  

Trent then stopped and said: "So what kind of choice is Fred making here?  He lied to his mom right? Now we need to put peanut butter on him.  Peanut butter is like the SIN."

At lunch time there mom said, "when I come back from talking with are rader(our neighbor), if you are done eating lunch I'll give you two donnuts (donuts)."  Well he wanted two donnuts so badly.  So when his mom left he through his food over the fence so he could get two donnuts. He forgot that it was Earth day brithday so when mom got home he got two donnuts.  Then mom and Fred went behind the fence.  She saw some food.  Mom said, "IS THIS YOUR LUNCH?"  He said, "sertntly not(certainly)! I think someone lives back here and they dropped some food."  Mom said, "But this is what you had for lunch." Fred said, " Maybe they had the same lunch too."  So they picked up the food and put it in there (their)  Earth day brithday (birthday)  bag.

Trent stopped and said:  "What did Fred do wrong here?  He threw his food over the fence and lied to his mom.  That is NOT a good choice, is it?  Fred needs some peanut butter on him again."

When they were done Fred asked, "can I please go to my friends house and play know?" Mom said, "With all your work yay you can go."  On the way to his friends house he saw a scarf and a jacet (jacket) on his rabors(neighbors)  porch.  Well it was cold so he took the jacet and the scarf.  He said to himself I'll just retrern(return)  it tomarow (tomorrow).  Know one (No one) saw him leave his robors house.  The next day he was in a rush because he got out early for his best friends brithday was today.  He forgot to get the scarf and jacet.  He didn't care because he wanted it anyway.  So he keapped (kept) it.   The rabors went out side to get the jacet and scarf and it was'ent there.  They couldn't find it.  So they asked people have they seen a scarf and a jacet.  The last people they asked was Fred and he said, "NO WAY!" Everybody said" NO."

Trent stopped and asked:  "What did Fred do wrong here?  He stole the scarf and jacket and lied about it too.  Put a bunch of peanut butter on Fred."

 On Sunday Fred went to church when he got in his chare(chair) and he listened to the teacher she said, "Don't stell (steal)  and lie."  He felt bad adout (about)  himself.  He felt sad so he prayed.  He knew what he needed to do.

He said sorry to everyone he lied too.  He returned the jacet and scarf to his rabors.  He got in very big trubble (trouble).  He repented.  Then he ternd(turned) 8 and got babtised(baptized)and all his sins got washed way.  THE END.

At this point Trent and Kolby did their best to wipe of "Fred" so he could be clean again.  

Trent's field trip and Japan skit

A week ago I went with Trent's 2nd grade class as a parent helper for the day.  Our first stop was the fish hatchery.  The kids loved learning all about the fish, the eggs, feeding them, healing them, and mostly catching them.  We also had a few other stops on our field trip, but I only took pictures from fishing. It was a rather smelly ordeal.  ha ha ha ha.

In this picture, Trent is with his friends Austin and Adam.  Trent had caught the fish, but Austin was holding the pole because the fish was moving around so much.

so they get to hang out often.

This past Thursday, Trent, and the other 2nd grade Explorer students (the 'gifted' program) put on a Japanese production.  They have been learning all sorts of cool stuff about Japan this school year and to celebrate they wrote, acted, sang, danced, and painted for their skit.  Trent did all his own painting on his kimono and had so much fun learning all sorts of cool stuff about Japan.

Trent and 2 of his church friends.  For the record, one of these girls is going to marry Trent, but don't tell him that yet, it's and arranged marriage.  ha ha ha ha

Kolby is JACK

A couple weeks ago, Kolby participated in the Kindergarten program at our school.  His class did a few little skits and songs centered around nursery rhymes.  Kolby was Jack, from "Jack and Jill".  

At the beginning of the program, Kolby had a small speaking part.  He spoke loud and clear and did a great job. 

I was so proud of him.  Kolby is quit the character, however, he is shy also.  At church he hates to go up and sing with the primary and he doesn't like being put on the spot if it's not his idea.  Well, Kolby sure didn't have any problems getting this job done for the program.  He did an excellent job "acting" and at then end when he bowed to the crowd, he even thru in his own creative little spunky flare of personality.  

Outraged!!

I just have to vent for a minute, so please feel free to tell me how RIGHT ON I am and JUSTIFIED in my opinion I am!  :)

Why is it that my kids, who are in public school, got Martin Luther King Jr. day off of school, but had to be AT school for PRESIDENTS DAY?  Doesn't that just seem soooo wrong?  --- cause it down right is!

Also, , , Why in the world do my kids, who are in public school, have school on MEMORIAL DAY???  That is a federal holiday?  Doesn't that just seem sooooo wrong AGAIN?  And for the record, I will NOT be sending my kids to school on Memorial day, it is a FEDERAL HOLIDAY!!!

So everyone, please feel free to side with me on this opinion.  If your opinion differs, keep it to yourself, or fake agreeing with me!!!!!

Family pictures 2009

A friend of ours enjoys taking pictures and is exploring this pass time.  He was kind enough to share his time and efforts in our behalf.  Here are some of the pictures from our evening.  Sadly, the "partly cloudy" day we had turned into full bright sunshine, and therefore, the sun was not working in our favor.  

Easter weekend

Ok, so I had  huge post half way typed up from 2 weeks ago, and by golly, never finished it.  Well, I am feeling so guilty (thanks Jolene, lol) that I have been slacking on my blog - I decided to just delete everything I had typed and just not worry about it.  

In a nutshell, this was our Easter weekend:

Friday night:  Missionary Farewell Party,  fish fry event.  lots of fun.  stayed out past 10 p.m.  kids were pretty tired from that.

Saturday:  got up at 5 a.m. then got the kids up at 5:45 a.m. so we could go to the Stake Volleyball day that was an hour and a half away.  We had one youth team and one adult team from our ward.  We had not practiced or even touched a volleyball prior to that morning.  We lost after the second set of matches.  Had a ton of fun, bruises on my arms from the volley ball for a couple of days.  We got a flat tire, went to someones family Easter egg hunt, then went and got the car then went and got Krispy Kreme donuts with the kids.  Got home around 7 p.m.  Tried to feed the kids dinner, they were too tired and all just wanted to go to bed.  

Sunday:  The kids loved their Easter baskets, sorry, no pictures.  Krispy Kremes for breakfast not the brightest idea since we had tons of Easter candy.  Went to church it was great.  Came home, rushed around to make some food for our neighborhood Easter feast.  Got to neighbors house, Kolby throws up about 30 minutes later. sad.  About 20 minutes later, Tanner throws up.  more sad.  During dinner it started to lightly rain, we all piled into neighbors garage.  The egg hunt was at my house.  It was totally crazy and had too many people thinking they were in charge, ya know, too many cooks in the kitchen type thing.  Everyone did get 10 eggs each, so that was good.  Overall, in spite of all the craziness, we had a good Easter.

(see, and honestly truly, that was definitely much shorter that the half that I had already typed up, ha ha ha ha.)

Colored by silk

On Sunday, between sessions, Donald and I tried a new egg dying activity.  My friends have a website called: www.ourbestbites.com, and if you scroll down a bit, you will find the silk tie dying activity.  Welll, we decided to give it a try.  

We colored 3 eggs (I know, I sure went over board here, ha ha ha).  I let the boys pick out the ties and then the work began.  First we had to take apart the ties, then we had to cut them into a proper useable size. After that you have you wrap the RAW egg as tight as possible with the silk material followed by some white cotton fabric (that would be a cut up old sheet).  Pop those eggs in a pot of water with some vinigar and boil for 20 minutes.  Let it cool a bit, and then unvail your beauties.  It was so fun to see how they all unfolded.  

We are going to do some more this week, but I want to get all the prep work done first so that it is easier for the kids and doesn't take as long.  

push your wee wee down sister

Brooklyne has decided she is a big girl and is potty training herself.  ha ha ha ha  Tanner likes to lend a hand with his little sister and even tries to instruct her on what she needs to do.  On one of these incidences he kept telling her to push her wee wee down.  Then he looked a little closer and became very confused and concerned.

He hasn't mentioned pushing her wee wee down since then.

No mom you are wrong!

Conversation with Tanner today in the car moments after he was singing the song Born in the U.S.A. :

T: mom you said I was born in Mississippi.

Me:  Yup.
T: I not born in Mississippi.  I am born in the U.S.A.

Then he starts belting out the song again and bobbing his head up and down as he jammed out to his nearly recognizable tune.

our KING

Trent took part in the 2nd grade program a couple weeks ago.  He had been working hard on his parts and trying hard to put his nerves out of him thoughts.

Trent had his own solo, he sung the song "I'm Going to be King" from the Lion King sound track.  I was so proud of him and surprised at how well he belted it out.  His roars are what had me laughing really hard though, the first time he came out and roared, I was not expecting it at all.  I nearly fell off my seat in shock.

This was also the first time I have ever done any REAL face painting.  I think I did a pretty darn good job if you ask me, ha ha ha ha.  I also went and helped in his classroom with the kids, and the teacher was so happy to have me around to lend a hand and help things go smoothly.  We had a great day and Trent enjoyed every part of it.

UNPREDICTABLE here in the SOUTH

The weather here in the south is the last thing from being predictable.  This past week we have been experiencing warm humid weather.  Wednesday and Thursday were around 75 degrees outside and a bit sticky.  By Saturday, it has cooled off a bit.  We had a 9 a.m. soccer game for Kolby, and we just wore sweaters or sweat shirts.  It was probably around 60 degrees, but still warm because of the humidity.  

Well, this morning we woke up to SNOW!  It does not snow here very often, they say about once in every 6-7 years we get snow.  Well this is 2 years in a row for us, and we have lived here for 5 years.  The forecast said we "might" get snow, but I was not thinking it would happen at all.  Well, I was wrong!  ha ha ha, when does that ever happen?!?!?  

The kids had so much fun playing in the snow.  They made snow angels and had a snow ball fight.  David and Cooper who live on our street wondered over and joined in on the snow ball fight.  

Now it is nearly noon, and there is no snow left!  Good thing we let the kids head out right after eating this morning.  By Wednesday, it is suppose to be sunny and 67 degrees, the Thursday it is suppose to be 75 degrees again!  Who knows, maybe we will get snow next Sunday too! HA HA HA HA HA.
